How do you know for sure if you have a tick bite?

Posted on July 13th, 2010 by admin

I was woken by an itch on the back of my legs. When I scratched it, it felt like a new mole. I looked at it and I think it may be a tick but I’m not sure. It’s hard to see becuase it’s on the back of my leg. I put a mirror up to it and it looks just like a mole but it’s shiny. I’m afraid to remove it if it’s a mole but afraid to keep it if it’s a tick and it could cause an infection. How do I determine?

Well I know you asked this 3 days ago so you’ve probably figured out by now what it is. But next time you think there might be a tick on you or someone else, cover it with liquid soap. If it is a tick, it won’t be able to breath and will pull out on its own. This is especially good for deer ticks as sometimes when people try to squeeze them out or remove them with tweezers they can’t get the whole thing out.

Can a tick bite cause a pimple, infection?

Posted on July 10th, 2010 by admin

About a week ago I found several ticks on my son and removed them. Now, I’ve noticed a place on the back of my son’s head, feels like a pimple under the skin. I’m thinking this may have been from a tick bite and it could possibly have infection in it. My son is only 7 so I doubt it could be an actual pimple. Any thoughts?

If there is no red bullseye circle around the bite you probably squeezed the tick causing him to "puke" in the wound i have done this once befor with no serious side effects. Next time use tweezers or hemostats and grab his head as close to the skin as possible.

Should I be worried about a tick bite on the very edge of my eyelid?

Posted on July 7th, 2010 by admin

I recently found a tiny tick on the very edge of the bottom eyelid on my left eye. I removed it with tweezers, but I’m not sure if I got the head. I need to know if I should be worried about this. It has caused my eyelid to swell up and it’s only been one day since I removed the tick. Also, how long will it last? It is extremely annoying.

Hello~
Don’t panic, but the swelling you have from the tick bite could be highly significant for Tick Born Illnesses.

Yungcoun (poster #2) is giving dangerous advice. She apparently is mis-informed by several sites that endorse the IDSA guidelines. Those IDSA guidelines have been found fraudulent by the CT Attorney General.
You can read about that here:

Lyme disease is the fastest growing infectious disease in the US, more than AIDS, Avian Flu and West Nile all put together, with up to/over 200,000 NEW cases a year.

Ticks carry and can transmit several other diseases known as co-infections to/with lyme disease. They are Ehrlichiosis/ Rickettsial Diseases, Babesia, Tulerimia, Micoplasmas’, Chlamydial PN, Bartonella or Bartonella like organism (BLO), Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and more.

Here is a link to a current situation that is not as unusual as it would seem. (This can happen when TBI is un-diagosed, mis-diagnosed or under treated.)

Watch for any other symptoms or any kind of rashes in the next several weeks. Many people begin with flu like symptoms but anything new or intensified is highly suspicious and significant.

Please read the sources I have listed below and arm yourself with knowledge – your life could depend on it.

Best wishes~

What is the best thing to put on a tick bite?

Posted on July 5th, 2010 by admin

I removed a tick the other day and I believe the head is still there, what is the best thing to put on it to remove the head?

Dip a cotton ball in a liquid soap and put it on the bite. Wait 10-15 mins and move the cotton ball. You’ll see the tick is going to be out. Good Luck!

franziola tubrenzis related to lone star tick bite?

Posted on July 1st, 2010 by admin

I was bitten by a lone star tick. According to CDC, they do not transmit Lyme Disease but other things. This is one of the possible things transmitted by this tick. I am looking for all information on this in humans.

Recommend you post your question on the on-line patient discussion group at www.lymenet.org. (Yes, officials say the lone star tick doesn’t transmit Lyme disease, just a "Lyme-like" illness. Patients with "Lyme-like" feel pretty much the same way patients with Lyme do–crummy–and treatment is pretty much the same–problematic.)

What symptoms do I look for after a tick bite?

Posted on June 27th, 2010 by admin

We pulled a very large tick off my 4 year old daughters head. She is acting fine at the moment. What should I look for to know if she needs to see a doctor?

if the tick has been attached for more than a day it is possible that lime disease or even rockey mnt.spotted fever may be contracted.look for symptoms of flu, fatigue, swelling around bite that does not go away in a couple of days.i dont want to cause panic but if you are concerned take child to doctor for test. nothing to take lightly.
