it was stuck in the skin halfway, and i pulled it out with tweezers, but the head is still in there. but its 11pm, should I wait until morning and call my doctor, or should I go down to the emergency room right away?
but I can barely see it. Its under the skin. Will it eventually fall out?
Try your best to remove the head with tweezers. I heard from a first aid nurse that you aren’t supposed to use nail polish remover, vapo rub, matches, etc. to remove ticks because it can cause them to expel bacteria into your skin which can cause more problems. You should save the tick and call your doctor to see if he wants to send it to a lab to test for lyme disease.

A Tick On Kelsey (My Dog)!!

Is there an effective way to kill/wash off ticks if I’ve been exposed to them? I was outdoors tonight and?

I felt itchy. Does regular showering work to remove ticks? Some ticks are microscopic and I couldn’t possibly see them all. I’m afraid of Lyme disease.
Might as well be afraid of the bubonic plague and HIV too.
If you are that scared just scrub yourself!!!!!!!
Any home remedies for removing sea ticks from a small, indoor dog?
Posted on June 18th, 2010 by admin
My sister has a small terrier and it is strictly a house dog. Recently it got out for a short amount of time and when she came back in she was covered in sea ticks. If you aren’t familiar with what "sea ticks" are, they are very small ticks that are barely visible. Anyways, my sister said that she just noticed them this morning and the dog had been chewing at her hind legs all night. So much so that both of her legs were completely wet. Does anyone have any home remedies to remove these ticks from her? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
Some info, hoped it helped.. :http://www.champi.nl/blog/ticks-and-dogs.html

Do ticks grab on to a host with their legs or some other form?
Posted on June 15th, 2010 by admin
I have heard from ranch hands and friends that have had ticks attached to them after walking in brush country that if you do not remove ticks correctly they leave their legs attached which can then cause infection. Is this accurate or just a old urban legend? I usually just remove ticks from my pets and they seem to come off intact never leaving a part behind.
Ticks bite and attach with their mouths, not their legs. To remove a tick, you should grab it with tweezers right at the skin level where it’s attached, and pull it straight off. And yes, if you don’t remove them correctly, part of the mouth can stay embedded in your skin and cause an infection. Even worse, deer ticks often carry Lyme Disease so you could end up getting that from mouth parts stuck in your skin. OK, the was a little gross even thinking about, but it’s true.

What is the best way to remove ticks from humans?
Posted on June 7th, 2010 by admin
Mygrandson had one in his belly button and I had alot of trouble getting out. I think I got he head out because his skin come with it.
Tweezers- but make sure you grab it by the HEAD because if you squeeze the body, the saliva of the tick can enter the person’s bloodstream and thats how diseases (like lyme disease) are passed along from ticks. Be careful
